Who we are
Pigeon Hat Games is a small independent game studio based in Spain. We run pigeonhatgames.com and the games on it. For anything about your data, write to privacy@pigeonhatgames.com.
The short version
We don't use cookies, we don't have accounts, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share data with advertisers. We count visits anonymously, keep server logs for a short while, and keep the emails you send us. That's it.
What we collect and why
- Anonymous visit statistics
- We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to see how many people visit, which pages and games are popular and roughly where visitors come from: country, browser, device type and the page that linked here. Umami uses no cookies, doesn't store your IP address and can't identify you. It also honours your browser's Do Not Track setting. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
- Server logs
- Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, records each request to the site and to the game files: the IP address, the time, the address requested and the browser's user agent. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure and to diagnose problems. They are deleted after 90 days. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
- If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as we need them to answer and follow up. Our mail is hosted by Zoho in the European Union. Legal basis: answering your request (GDPR art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
- Game saves
- Games may keep your progress in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us; clearing your browser data removes it.
Who else sees data
Our service providers process data on our behalf: Amazon Web Services (hosting and logs), Umami (statistics) and Zoho (email). AWS and Umami may process data outside the EU; those transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Fonts and images are served from our own site, so loading a page sends nothing to Google or other third parties. Links to itch.io and other sites lead to services with their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy of it. In practice we hold very little: the statistics are anonymous and the logs are gone after 90 days, so most requests will be about email.
Write to privacy@pigeonhatgames.com. You can also complain to the Spanish data protection authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es) or to the authority in your own country.
Children
Our games are for everyone, children included. We don't ask anyone for personal data and don't knowingly collect any from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date.
